The State Border Service of Ukraine plans to spend about 500 million hryvna ($19.5 million USD) on a "wall" project in 2017.
Head of the State Border Service of Ukraine recalled that, according to the draft proposition, the wall is planned along the border with the Russian Federation in the Kharkov, Chernigov and Lugansk regions. It is planned to be completed by the end of the year in the Kharkov region.
How effective the wall will be against Russia's cargo, whether its aid of weapons, is unclear, given border patrol in Lugansk is not pro-Ukrainian. The possibility of a money siphoning project instead is not off the cards.
