A war monitor has claimed that the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have captured at least 90% of Raqqa from ISIS.
The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights made the announcement on Wednesday.
The US-backed SDF have been battling the terrorist group in the city since 6 June and have been making slow progress.
The full capture of the city will be a symbolic blow to ISIS as Raqqa became the capital of the so-called Caliphate over three years ago.
A statement from the SDF's top command said Operation Euphrates Wrath has reached its "final stages".
It is estimated that at least 70,000 civilians remain in Raqqa, however it is unknown how many terrorists are left.
