Preliminary results of the German parliamentary election are revealed.
Merkel’s CDU/CSU union is currently in the lead, while it seems that the right-wing opposition party Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) will move as the third strongest party into Bundestag.
For the grand CDU/SPD coalition, the results are rather disappointing.
“This is a historic day. Germany finally got the freedom-oriented national-conservative power that was needed since a long time ago. We will advocate for the rights of the German people and are here to stay”, said Fabian Flecken, chairman of the AfD’s youth wing in the state of Hessen while speaking to Zuerst!
Particularly Interesting are the results from some of the newer eastern states where AfD came in second, gaining up to 21.5% of the votes.
For now, AfD guaranteed itself at least 89 seats in the parliament.
