The Kremlin has denied knowing who has been placing political advertisements on Facebook.
"We don’t know what Russiagate is and we don’t know who and how places advertisements on Facebook, and we’ve never dealt with it," Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov told reporters, commenting on information that Facebook would report to the US Congress on political ads paid from Russia.
"The Russian side has never had anything to do with it," he continued.
TASS reported that according to media reports, Facebook has agreed to provide the US Congress with information about the ads that could have been purchased in order to influence the 2016 election.
US President Donald Trump came out to blast the media reports as well.
"The Russia hoax continues, now it’s ads on Facebook. What about the totally biased and dishonest Media coverage in favor of Crooked Hillary?" Trump wrote on Twitter.
