With the Syrian Army successfully crossing the Euphrates river at Deir Ezzor yesterday, government forces are now within 2km of US-backed and Kurdish-led forces.
To secure government-held areas on the eastern bank of the river at Deir Ezzor, the Syrian Army liberated the towns of Mazloum and al-Morat from ISIS.
The Syrian Army succeeded in traversing the Euphrates River using boats and amphibious vehicles, linking up the two banks by help of Russian pontoon bridges, Muraselon reported earlier today.
However, Syrian troops crossing the Euphrates has become a more dangerous task since Kurdish-led forces released large volumes of water from dams on the river, as reported by Fort Russ News earlier.
Meanwhile, as seen in the above Murasalon map, the Syrian Army are pushing their offensive against ISIS directly to oilfields they control. This is in the hope to reach the oilfields before the US-backed forces do so, who only launched their operations in Deir Ezzor once the Syrian Army made rapid progress against the terrorist group.
