On Wednesday, Tiger Forces, an elite special forces unit of the Syrian Army, has made a significant progress against ISIS in the northwestern countryside of Deir Ez Zour province, and will soon meet up with the Syrian Army units operating in the southeastern countryside of Raqqah province.
Earlier today, the Tiger Forces began a large-scale assault, reaching far beyond the northwestern limits of Deir Ez Zour city and moving up the length of the western bank of the Euphrates River.
According to the field reports, the Tiger Forces managed to liberate the towns of Al Tabni, Al Turayif, Al Buwytiyah, Khan Zahra and Al Masrab, killing scores of the terrorists in the process.
In addition, the Tiger Forces also secured the strategically important Salim mountain range and the nearby Manjm Al Malah (salt mines area).
Thanks to today’s efforts, the Tiger Forces have now reached the key strategic town of Shamiya and are currently only about 25 to 30 kilometers away from the Syrian Army troops stationed in southeastern countryside of Raqqah province, and who themselves are very closes to strategically equally important town of Ma’adan.
