Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) claim to have targeted three Syrian Army artillery cannons in response to the fall of five shells near the Jewish settlements in the occupied Golan Heights.

According to an IDF spokesman, five shells fired from Syrian territory fell in the Golan Heights, without causing any damage.

Earlier on Saturday, the IDF said on its Twitter page that five shells fell in the northern countryside of the Golan Heights, without giving any information on the casualties, adding that the shells fell due to internal clashes taking place in Syria and that the IDF units were already searching the area.

For now, the Syrian Ministry of Defense has not issued any statement confirming or denying the Israeli allegations.

It is noteworthy that the area is crowded with jihadist groups, some of which were also backed by Israel.
