According to Gerasimov, over the past five years, Russia has improved its missile warning system and ensured the overlapping of airspace surveillance areas.

"One of our priority tasks was the improvement of the missile attack warning system. Starting from 2012, modern high-capacity radar stations of the Voronezh type are being put into operation, and the existing stations Darial, Dnipro and Volga are being modernized.

Gerasimov similarly spoke about the new weapons of the Russian army. Over the past five years, more than three hundred new military equipment units have been put into service. The navy received more than 150 ships, 60 of them for combat. Thirteen battalions of missile systems "Bal" and "Bastion", which are capable of hitting both sea and land targets.

Naval aviation received more than 60 aircraft and helicopters, and the combat capabilities of naval strategic nuclear forces grew by 25%.

As for aviation, it has received 185 aircraft and helicopters in five years.

The number of aircraft that can ustilise cruise missiles has grown 11-fold, the share of strategic missile carriers has reached 75.7%, which is 53% more than in 2012.

The Tu-160M and Tu-95MS missile carriers have also been modernized, they received new radio-electronic equipment and more powerful engines.
