The scale of the withdrawal of Russian troops from Syria after the victory over the terrorist organization "Islamic State" will depend on the situation, but the airbase at Khmeimim and the logistics center of the Navy in Tartus are likely to remain, said Deputy Foreign Minister, Oleg Syromolotov.

When asked how the Russian bases will function in the future, the deputy minister simply answered: "I can not say, I'm not the defense minister."

According to Syromolotov, where as ISIS is left in about 10 percent of the territory previously conquered, the terrorist group al Nusra continues to operate. In addition, individual bandit groups in Syria are moving between groups, sometimes acting independently.

"We have very often, unexpected players that come into the picture, when the situation can change radically" the deputy foreign minister said.

While President Putin has officially stated that 90% of Syrian territory has been liberated, it remains too soon to speak of a concrete victory and the future of the role of  Russian bases in Syria.
