Half of the weapons delivered by the US three days ago to Syrian Kurdish self-defense forces have passed into the hands of militants of the terrorist grouping known as the Islamic State (Daesh), Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan has stated.
“Three days ago in Syrian Kobane, three aircraft with American weapons supplied Syrian Kurds. Half of these weapons have ended up in the hands of ISIS terrorists. We warned Barack Obama about such, but failed to convince him. Now, unfortunately, the US is playing the same game. This will not lead to any concrete results, but will only prolong the bloodshed in Syria,” the Turkish leader stated during his visit to the US.
Erdogan added that Ankara does not understand why Washington supports the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party and self-defense forces who are recognized as terrorist organizations in Turkey.
“They say that they are fighting against Daesh. But is Jebat al-Nusra not also fighting Daesh? Then why do you support them and not include them on the list of terrorists? Where is the logic? Why do you not recognize as terrorists those whom Ankara calls out as such?,” Erdogan is quoted as saying by Anadolu.
