More than 17,000 residents of the self-proclaimed Lugansk People’s Republic took part in a rally against the deployment of an armed OSCE mission in Donbass. This has been reported to journalists by a spokesperson of the LPR’s interior ministry.

The rally was held on Monday on Lugansk’s central square. Residents of the LPR held placards denouncing the deployment of an armed OSCE mission. The republic’s interior ministry has reported that “According to preliminary estimates, the rally was participated in by more than 17,000 residents.”

Nikolay Zaporozhtsev, chairman of the Public Council under the head of the LPR, told journalists that “the public voting primaries held in October for electing local authorities have proven the political maturity of the LPR and demonstrated to the whole world that elections can can be held here safely.”

He expressed concern that, if an armed OSCE mission is deployed in Donbass, then Kiev could organize a provocation and then accuse the LPR militia. “We are against the deployment of a foreign military mission on our land, and this was eloquently confirmed today by the many thousands of people who participated in the rally,” Zaporozhtsev stated.
