Units of the Syrian Army have repelled a large-scale ISIS assault on military checkpoints Deir-Ez Zour-Palmyra highway in the Syrian Desert.
According to the field reports, a large number of ISIS terrorists were trying to overrun military checkpoints of the army units patrolling the highway in Al Shoula and Kabajib areas.
While receiving backup support from the Syrian Air Force, units of the Army and its aligned group confronted the invading ISIS terrorists, and eventually left them with severe losses in their ranks.
The Army is now on a lookout for the fleeing terrorists in order to fully secure the highway.
Meanwhile, fierce clashes erupted between the Army, backed by the Syrian Air Force, and ISIS terrorists in Huweijet Sakr and on the axis of Khsham and Hatla Fouqani in the eastern province of Deir Ez Zour.
The Army’s artillery units also targeted movements and hideouts of ISIS terrorists in Hatla and the neighborhoods of Al Rashidiyeh, Al Huweiqah, Al Aridi, Kanamat and Khasarat in Deir EZ Zour city.
Dozens of ISIS terrorists were killed, and many more were left injured, in addition to destruction of their vehicles and hideouts.
