On January 25th, the website of the Russian National Guard was the subject of a massive cyberattack.
The site began suffering outages on Wednesday around 17:00. Experts have established that the site was subjected to a “massive DDoS attack from multiple network requests which led to a complete breakdown of the web-server’s resources and the impossibility of working with the site,” the National Guard’s press release reads.
Upon trying to open the page, the following message appears: “Site under maintenance.”
At 2:00 in the morning, 450 unique IP addresses from which the attack was launched were identified and blocked. Since then, their number has risen to 7,800.
Experts are now carrying out “countermeasures to repel DDoS attacks and bring the site back into working operation,” the chief of communications of the National Guard, Major General Aleksey Belyakov, announced.
The FSB has stated that Russian entities were subjected to hacker attacks around 70 million times over the course of 2016 , the majority of which came from abroad.
