The ex-head of the Donetsk People’s Republic’s Ministry of State Security (MGB) and one of the leaders of the Donbass Volunteers Union, Andrey Pinchuk, says that Petro Poroshenko has failed to provoke the armies of the Lugansk and Donetsk people’s republics into going on a counter-offensive. Now the ruling regime in Kiev faces big trouble, Pinchuk believes.

“All of this escalation on the front is complete nonsense regardless of whether or not this was the initiative of individual volunteer battalions. They can destabilize the situation only on one narrow part of the front while they shell the entire frontline in the DPR and LPR,” Pinchuk began.

He continued: “We’ve seen provocations, the destruction of the civilian population, lies elevated to the rank of state policy, and Poroshenko’s staging visit to Germany.”

“In diplomacy, it is very difficult to interrupt a one-day visit, but he [Poroshenko] managed to do this. If Poroshenko will keep more people on the demarcation line, then they will turn around and march on Kiev. Talk of a third Maidan is ceaselessly ongoing.”

The former leader of the DPR’s state security explained: “In such a situation in which the support of sponsors is lost and a restart in US-Russia relations is forecasted as well as a change up of EU leaders, Poroshenko is forced to take such steps.”

“Poroshenko’s main goal was compelling the [Donbass] militia to move forward. However, first of all, this would mean a significant loss of personnel since the Ukrainians have created powerful fortifications in the Avdeevka area. It would be ideal for Kiev if the West hardened its position - you’ve seen all of McCain’s statements about Javelin missiles,” Pinchuk analyzed.

“They are provoking us to go on an offensive on Kiev. But don’t forget that a 100,000-strong Ukrainian military group is concentrated near Donetsk and Lugansk. In order to break their defense line, then according to military laws we would need a group whose numbers exceed the defending group by three or two and a half times. Therefore, this is the cost of the issue," the leader of the Donbass Volunteers Union warned.

Pinchuk concluded: "But what’s important is that Ukraine is now on the verge of a most powerful internal conflict. It has reached a certain historical limit after which processes quickly leading to its collapse are inevitable. Therefore, why would we throw wood into the fiery logic of our opponent?"
