Today Crimea residents celebrate the anniversary of an historic referendum in which the vast majority of people voted to return the peninsula to Russia. Celebrations resound throughout the country.

More than three thousand people came from the Sevastopol area on Thursday. This was the most massive youth flash-mob in the history of the city. But more people gathered here three years ago - after the referendum.

Then tens of thousands of people in this place the whole city met Russian spring in the Crimea. On the anniversary of the referendum the residents of Sevastopol deployed onto the streets  a huge living tricolor.

Although not a weekend day for those of the peninsula, thousands of Crimean people in various cities took to the streets to take part in the celebrations. Russian, Ukrainians, Crimean Tatars today gathered and sang the Russian national anthem, and congratulate each other.

For three years as a part of Russia, changes in the Crimea affected all areas and regions. Now Sevastopol surgeons perform complex heart surgery - even some three years ago in a city with half a million people like that - was impossible. In Sevastopol bay near the pier sits an old Russian submarine, dubbed by NATO, "Black Hole."

Crimeans decided to issue sanctions and even managed to forget about the blackout. The symbol of the long-awaited reunification of the Crimea with Russia was the bridge across the Kerch Strait. Reliable and safe crossing of his length of 19 kilometers will soon connect the mainland with the peninsula.
