Syrian Army units established control over large areas, located south of Palmyra, during anti-ISIS operations in the east of Homs province.
According to the field reports, army units, in coordination with the allies, advanced some 10 km towards Khnaifis mines in the southern countryside of Palmyra, following a large-scale military operation, during which a vast number of ISIS terrorists were killed. The army units established control over Al Abtar Mountain and Qaser Al Halabat.
In the province of Deir Ez Zour, clashes with ISIS terrorists continued. An infiltration attempt into the eastern part of Al Sinaa neighborhood in Deir Ezzor was foiled. More than 15 terrorists were killed in the clashes, in addition to destruction of a mortar launcher, two machine-gun-equipped vehicles, barricades and motorcycles belonging to ISIS. Further strikes were carried out against ISIS positions in the area of Al Moazafin, Al Joubaila and in the surroundings of the Regiment 137, south-west of Deir Ez Zour city. A number of ISIS terrorists were killed in the operations and their arms and ammunition were destroyed.
In Daraa province, fight against Al Nusra Front continued, with several of their sites, ammunition stockpiles and vehicles being destroyed in the Daraa Al Balad area. Tao rocket launchpad, a mortar launcher and a vehicle, belonging to the terrorists, were destroyed in addition to the scores of terrorists being killed in Al Jomrouk, Al Qadim and the surrounding areas of of Al Masri Roundabout. Among the terrorists killed were Mohammad Jamal Hindawi Al Masalmeh, a self-proclaimed leader of the Liwa Al Tawhid terrorist group and a field commander of Tal Bounyian Al Marsous terrorist group, Rashed Aba Zaid.
New advancements were also made in Hama province. Army units carried out new operations against gatherings and movements of Al Nusra Front terrorists and their allies on the axes of Maardes-Souran, and Maardes-Tibet AI Imam and in the surrounding areas of of Tal Skeik, located in the northern countryside of Hama. A military source said dozens of terrorists were killed and a car bomb, 4 tanks, 4 gun-equipped vehicles , 2 artillery emplacements and a rocket launcher, were destroyed. The army also seized a combat vehicle, artillery shells and mortar rounds.
