In an interview for Mir TV, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that Russia will not allow any “color revolutions” in the country or in the states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.

“We know of different theories that are being implemented in different regions of the world which lead to serious destabilization in these regions. Of course, we should not allow anything of the sort and we will by all means try to act appropriately in Russia, and by all means support our CSTO partners,” Putin said during the interview.

Back in February, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu warned of the likelihood of “color revolutions” affecting new areas. In his opinion, preventing such cases is possible only through combined efforts.

“Color revolutions” is the collective name given to the regime change processes observed in some countries, such as the “Rose Revolution” in Georgia, the “Tulip Revolution” in Kyrgyzstan, the “Orange Revolution” in Ukraine, the “Jasmine Revolution” in Tunisia, and the “Lotus Revolution” in Egypt. As a rule, such start with peaceful rallies and then spill over into tough confrontations with governments, thus leading to regime collapse.

The Collective Security Treaty Organization currently includes six countries: Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan.
