The former press-secretary of Petro Poroshenko, and current deputy of the Rada, Irina Friz has stated that "Russia is populating the Crimea with Buryats and Mordovs [Siberian ethnicities], pushing out Crimean Tatars and Ukrainians"

This comment was made at the recent assembly of a Ukraine- NATO meeting.

"Russia is attempting to artificially replace the local population. " - she stated. 

Russia is similarly taking advantage of abandoned Ukrainian military areas in the region, according to Friz - "Russia is doing all it can to dominate the Black Sea basin."
