Serbia's Military-Security Agency (VBA) has reportedly seized large quantities of weapons in the southern parts of the country.
According to newspaper Blic, seized weapons were allegedly en route to Macedonia.
It is believed the weapons were intended to become the party infrastructure of the major Albanian parties whose officials participated in the armed conflicts in Kosovo, Metohia and Macedonia, Blic claims while citing VBA sources.
Several thousand rifles, machine-guns, mortars and hand grenades were reportedly confiscated last week close to the towns of Presevo and Bujanovac. One foreign and two Serbian nationals were arrested in the process. The relatively large shipment of arms was supposedly meant to be used in case of the breakout of an armed conflict in Macedonia.
Following orders from Serbia's state leadership, the VBA rose their level of activities and state of alert to the maximum.
The VBA sources also claim that Macedonian authorities have since been informed about the discoveries of the VBA, adding that lots of Albanian community members from Presevo and Bujanovac were spotted heading towards the Macedonian border in the past few days.
Tensions in Macedonia are currently high and some are even expecting the outbreak of a Kosovo-style conflict.
