Ali Abdullah Ayyoub, Chief of the General Staff of the Syrian Army and the Armed Forces has arrived in Tehran.
Earlier on Monday, he met with the Chief of the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Major General Mohammad Bagheri in order to discuss ways to strengthen coordination and cooperation between the countries in the face of international terrorism and to coordinate views on political and military affairs.
During the meeting, which was held in the presence of the Syrian Ambassador to Tehran, Adnan Hassan Mahmoud, Ayyoub and Bagheri expressed their determination on boosting military cooperation between the two armed forces of Syria and Iran.
Both sides also condemned the recent American and the repeated Israeli aggression against Syria and expressed the importance of a new strategic pact between Iran, Syria and Russia, aimed at combating terrorism.
General Ayyoub then gave a brief review of the ground situation in Syria and vowed to continue fight against international terrorism until the last terrorist is gone.
Meanwhile, the Syrian Army made new gains on the ground and it seems the May Day celebrations did not halt its progress.
Earlier on Monday, army units shot down an ISIS drone, close to the eastern barricade of Deir Ezzor airport and destroyed a bulldozer in Al Makabbat area, located south of Deir Ez Zour city.
Intense clashes continued in the cemetery areas where scores of terrorists, including some of their local leaders, were left dead or injured, in addition to destruction of their weapons, equipment and ammunition stockpiles. Further operations were carried out against ISIS gatherings and movements in Al Arfi neighborhood, Al Tharda mountain and the nearby junction, inflicting severe losses upon terrorists in terms of personnel and equipment.
The army also continued its efforts against Al Nusra Front terrorists and the aligned groups in Daraa province. According to the field reports, 4 vehicles and two command centers, belonging to Al Nusra Front were destroyed in Daraa Al Balad, Buser Al Harir, Jeninin in Allajt.
Reports came, saying clashes between Al Nusra Front/Al Rahman Brigade terrorists and the rival terrorist group Jaysh Al Islam are intensifying in the Damascene suburban area of Eastern Ghouta, with almost 100 dead on both sides ever since the clashes began 4 days ago.
