A curfew has been announced in Kirkuk as clashes occurred between the Kurdish and Turkmen communities, less than one week from Kurdistan's Independence referendum.
Police said in an official statement that was quoted by Sky News Arabia that one Kurd was killed on Monday after clashes occurred with guards for a Turkmen Political Party after a Kurdish mob passed by the building.
In addition to the one killed, a Turkmen guard and two other Kurds were also injured in the exchange.
The referendum is scheduled to take place on September 25, where it is expected that the people will overwhelmingly vote for independence.
