Syria Forces Launch a Major-Scale Operation in Raqqah, Approach Tabqa - Like This Article

Led by the Tiger Forces, an elite special forces unit, units of the Syrian Army have launched a major-scale anti-ISIS operation in Raqqah province.

So far, several villages in the western countryside of Raqqah province were liberated and since morning the Army is advancing towards the key strategic oil field of Rusafa.

According to the field reports, the areas west of the Rusafa Oil Field as well as the Rusafa town and its junction have been liberated.

For the time being, the Army decided not to enter the town due to security concerns.
Engeneering units of the Syrian Army are already en route to town in order to cleanse all landmines and IEDs, planted by terrorists. 

For the first time in three years, Syrian Army has also approached Tabqa.

Meanwhile, operations continued in the countryside of Palmyra.

Earlier on Tuesday, units of the Syrian Army established control over 100 square kilometers of land, located northeast of the city and killed scores of terrorists.
