A new round of Astana talks on settlement of the Syrian crisis will likely be held sometime in early July in the Kazakh capital of Astana, Russian President’s Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa and Deputy Foreign Minister, Mikhail Bogdanov, said on Tuesday.
He told Sputnik News Agency that the Russian side is currently in discussion with the Turkish and Iranian partners, regarding the setup of the negotiations.
He also said the new round of talks in Geneva will be held right after the one in Astana.
So far, the Kazakh capital city of Astana hosted four sessions, dedicated to the Syrian issue.
All of them were carried out in an accordance with the international law and with strict commitment to fully respect Syria’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.
The talks also greatly contributed to lowering the tensions in the country, especially after de-escalation zones were established, following a memorandum which was reached at the last session of the talks, held back in early May.
