Yesterday, the president of Belarus, Lukashenko, made an official visit to Kiev, Ukraine. He met with president Poroshenko as a part of the Ukrainian-Belorussian Economic Forum.
Belarus seems to be playing a game of filling in the segments of both Ukrainian and Russian markets that the countries have lost due to deterioration of economic relationships between the two since 2014. Luckily for Belarus, it's a post-Soviet country too, so their industries are very compatible with both neighboring states.
Belarus and Russia consider each other strategic and military partners. The countries are planning to have joined military exercise codenamed "Zapad-2017" in September this year. The war games will involve up to 13 000 military personnel.
