Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law that amends the law on the "Free Far Eastern hectare".
The law simplifies the procedure and form of submission of information on the territories, which are determined by the law of the subject of the Russian Federation and within the boundaries of which land plots can not be provided for gratuitous use.
As explained by the government of the Russian Federation, a number of changes are aimed at resolving issues with possible refusal to provide a site. In cases where the formed section crosses the boundaries of other sections or boundaries of the territorial zone, populated area, municipal entity or restricts access to other sites, with the consent of the citizen, the boundaries of the site may be adjusted or a citizen may be granted another site.
In such cases, the period for consideration of an application for granting a site for gratuitous use is suspended for up to 30 days, and the citizen can consent to another variant of the scheme for locating the land plot.
In addition, the law provides for the expansion of territories that can be provided for free use. In particular, the document lifts the ban on the provision of sites on which protective forests of certain categories are located. At the same time, citizens who receive such plots will bear the obligation to restore forests, as stipulated in Article 62 of the Forest Code.
A reminder, that since 2016 - Russian citizens (and some foreigners) are able to acquire a hectare of free land in Russia's Far East in order to develop the region. There is little infrastructure, telecommunications and transportation is currently difficult. Those with money to invest are encouraged to 'colonise' the area.
