Russian Foreign Ministry warned of possible political and military consequences, should the US continue to manipulate the terrorist groups in Syria for its own geopolitical goals and interests.

“Our position on the US overtures with the Syrian militants has been voiced repeatedly. This can lead to unpredictable military and political consequences”, Russian Foreign Ministry’s Deputy Director of the Information and Press Department, Artyom Kozhin, said in a statement, adding that Moscow pointed to Washington’s “indiscrimination” when making decisions with whom to deal with in Syria in pursuit of its own geopolitical interests, several times already.

He also said Moscow received no official notice on the alleged Trump’s decision to end the CIA's program of arming and training the Syrian “rebels.”

“We know nothing about the state of particular or similar programs that could be carried out by the CIA and other US agencies. US intelligence does not report to us,” Kozhin said.

It is noteworthy that the US President Donald Trump has recently made a decision to end the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) program to arm and train the so-called “moderate rebels” in Syria.
