Azov sponsor goes after Socialist Party of Ukraine

The Ukrainian politician Ilya Kiva, adviser to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD), has decided to head the Socialist Party of Ukraine (SPU). This party was founded in 1991 by Alexander Moroz and for a long time occupied a prominent place in Ukrainian politics. However, in 2007, it did not make it into the Ukrainian Parliament for the first time and has ever since been mired in crisis. Nevertheless, the left-wing party still sparks interest today.

Ivan Bokiy, the spokesman of the party's legal leadership and ex-head of the SPU faction in the parliament in "pre-revolutionary times”, said that the adviser to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs could not be elected as party leader. "There was no congress, and therefore no leader. And what is there? There are only intrigues by various scammers...", he wrote on his Facebook.

Avakov (the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and one of the leaders of the “National Front” party in ruling coalition together with Petro Poroshenko’s bloc) needed this fraudulent move to seize the left-wing party. After the ban on the Communist Party and other left-wing forces, the popularity of socialist ideas did not diminish; instead, it only increased. Therefore Avakov, the sponsor of the neo-Nazi regiment "Azov" and the National Corps party, is in a hurry to lay eggs in different baskets on the eve of possible early parliamentary elections.

Crime in Ukraine exceeds 1990's level

Viktor Medved, the director of the consulting company William Invest Expert, has reported that the crime rate in Ukraine has exceeded the indices of the ‘90s, which were considered to be the most unfavorable.

"In 2016, in Ukraine, almost 600 thousand crimes were recorded, without taking the Donbass and the Crimea into account. And in 1996, which was the peak of crime in the country, and not taking into account today's uncontrolled territories, there were about 550 thousand crimes. That is, at the moment, crime in Ukraine is almost 10% higher than in the peak years of crime. The disclosure of crime has fallen three times, while Kiev holds the lowest percentage of disclosure - the average in the country is 39%, and 13% in the capital,” said Medved.

And this despite the fact that the amount of financing of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is 45 billion hryvnia - 50% of the army funding during military operations. The growth of crime in Ukraine has also been affected by confusion in the judicial system. "The authorities use the judiciary to replenish their pockets or for the purpose of political pressure... And since the Supreme Council of Justice was instituted, it has guaranteed good business only for the goverment,” the analyst concluded.

Following talks in Minsk, the spokeswoman for Ukraine's envoy, Darka Olifer, said that the Ukrainian representatives will insist on the abolition of the ruble zone, the tax system and the demarcation line in Donbass which were formed after the military operations in 2015.

Obviously, in the conditions of the total blockade of Donbass, a return to the Ukrainian hryvnia is impossible. In Ukraine, any financial transactions with the LPR and the DPR are blocked at the legislative level. Only the mechanism of payment for water between the parties was discussed for about a year. The hryvnia is nowhere to be found in the LPR and DPR, unless, of course, we take into account small incomes which are literally torn by the pensioners of the republics from the Ukrainian budget. But not everyone goes to Ukraine for pensions, and those who do will still spend a significant part of them on the road. But the most important thing is that this ultimatum of the Ukrainian side has no grounds - there are no points concerning this issue in the Minsk Agreements, just like there are no requirements for the functioning of the tax system in certain regions of Donbass - the LPR and DPR. And no representatives of international organizations have spoken out against the ruble zone and the tax system in Donbass. On the other hand, the Minsk agreements do stipulate that the Ukrainian authorities must provide social benefits and pensions to the residents of Donbass. Representatives of the United Nations and other organizations have even directly announced this to the authorities and insisted on the payment of the guaranteed payments.

DPR agrarians form 440 harvesting teams

DPR farms have completed the process of forming harvesting teams that will take part in the harvesting of grain crops this year. This has been reported by Igor Kabanov, head of the agricultural production mechanization sector of the Ministry of Agro-Industrial Policy and Food of the DPR. "In total, 440 such teams will take part in harvesting this year. (...) 20 harvesters involved in the harvesting campaign belong to the state enterprise AgroDonbass."

According to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic, all farmers of the DPR will be harvesting cereals in an area of 136,000 hectares this year, which is 12,000 hectares more than last year. According to the experts, the average yield of winter wheat in the Republic will exceed 30 quintals per hectare.

Mayor at gunpoint

On July 8th at about 5:30 P.M., the mayor of Gorlovka, Ivan Prikhodko, was wounded when Ukrainian militants opened fire on the Gorlovka-Yasinovataya highway. As a result of the bombardment, Prikhodko received a slight concussion. Subsequently, the mayor said that he does not consider it possible to regard the firing of the car he was traveling on as an attempt to kill him. Prikhodko added that the fire was fired from infantry fighting vehicles and mortars.

Alas, just a "normal" mortar shelling of a harmless car. Any Donbass civilian can be faced with such senseless danger anytime any day.
