Syrian Army got assaulted by ISIS terrorists on Thursday.
While conducting its operations in Raqqah province, ISIS terrorists launched an assault and overran some villages in southern Raqqah, resulting in scores of the Syrian soldiers being killed after getting caught off-guard.
According to Amaq News Agency of ISIS, at least 99 Syrian soldiers were killed, 57 of them in a single suicide bombing.
The information cannot be independently verified.
The Syrian military sources later reported that the Army indeed lost dozens of its soldiers, though not as many as ISIS claimed.
On Thursday, however, the Syrian Army achieved several major victories against ISIS.
Not only did it heavily pound its positions in Qalamoun and Deir Ez Zour regions, it also dealt a devastating blow to it in the province of Hama, and more or less sealed its fate in the province of Homs by completely surrounding its remaining combatants.
