A former deputy of the Verkhovna Rada, lawyer Irina Berezhnaya, has died in a car crash on the Adriatic coast between Italy and Croatia. In the car at the time of the accident was also her daughter - the child received minor injuries. Her driver was also killed.

"The driver who drove Berezhnaya with an eight-year-old daughter, most likely, failed to manage the curve, and the car flew off," a Ukrainian newspaper writes.

The 36-year-old Berezhnaya was a frequent guest of Russian talk shows, where she criticized the regime established after the 2014 coup in Ukraine. Together with her mother, Elena Berezhnaya, she also participated in anti-regime litigation.

She challenged the renaming of General Vatutin Avenue (legendary Soviet commander) in Kiev to Roman Shukhyevich avenue. (Nationalist of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army in the years of WWII, fighting on the side of the Germans.)
