The Iranian Foreign Ministry has strongly condemned a Saudi airstrike against residential areas in the Yemeni province of Sana’a, calling on the UN to step up efforts to put an end to Saudi aerial raids on its impoverished neighbor, PressTV reported.
It was reported by Fort Russ yesterday as breaking news with at least 30 dead, but it can now be confirmed that the Saudi-led airstrike killed 46 people according to Lebanese al-Mayadeen television channel.
The airstrike targeted a two-story hotel in Arhab, 35 kilometres north of Yemen's capital, Sana'a, officials said.
Iranian Foreign Ministry Bahram Qassemi called on the UN and other international bodies to investigate the killing of civilians in the attack, the report continued.
“The escalation of attacks on residential buildings and civilian targets and preventing relevant international bodies and organizations from delivering aid amount to the violation of humanitarian principles and standards,” Qassemi said.
