To implement the assistance plan for Ukraine, developed by Lithuania, the European Union will have to spend about 5 billion euros annually, said the head of the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine Stepan Kubiv.

"This initiative of Lithuania provides for economic, political and financial assistance for Ukraine in the context of European integration. It's at least 5 billion euros of annual support for reforms aimed at economic growth and development, " the Ukrainian minister said.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, following the Ukraine-EU summit, announced the beginning of the development of a long-term plan for economic support for Ukraine - akin to the "Marshall Plan" type, to restore the devastated economy of Europe after the Second World War.

Reminder that the Ukraine is not currently part of the EU - what trade offs, via the envisaged integration process, will be required in exchange for financial assistance?
