The current Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation, Anatoly Antonov, has been officially appointed as Ambassador of Russia to the United States.
The corresponding decrees of Russian President Vladimir Putin were published on the Kremlin's website today.
Antonov also succeeds Mr. Kislyak as Russia's permanent representative to the Organization of American States in Washington, part-time.
In May, it was reported that for the candidacy for the post of Ambassador to the US, Antonov was approved in the committees on international affairs of the lower and upper chambers of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation. He will replace Mr. Kislyak who served as Russia's ambassador to the United States from July 2008.
