The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine called the law of the Russian Federation, which, in particular, simplifies the acquisition of citizenship and a residence permit in Russia for Ukrainians, aimed at discriminating and infringing the rights of Ukrainian citizens, according to the website of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry on Monday.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine stated that it regards it "as a continuation of legal discrimination and infringement of the rights of Ukrainian citizens who, due to various circumstances, live or work on the territory of Russia", as well as in the Crimea.
The Foreign Ministry believes that the adoption of the law testifies to the "total disrespect" of international law.
A reminder, that Russia simplified its procedures for Ukrainians to obtain Russian citizenship, mirroring the recent visa-free arrangement of Ukraine and the EU.
