Initiatives of soldiers' mothers of Donbass
Memory! People often forget about tragic events that have not touched them. Friends, acquaintances ... During the war no one can be insured against a disaster that can enter any home, taking away the most precious thing - life.
Few people think about the fate of the men and women who defend the advanced positions of our frontiers. When the funeral comes, only the relatives suffer. If you think about the meager numbers of reports, it becomes scary. Ten, twenty, one hundred ... thousands of dead, and crippled destinies. But human memory can not store tens of thousands of names.
On July 2, 2016 the Committee of Soldiers' Mothers was established in the city of Makeevka. This committee keeps a memory of all those killed in the fratricidal war in the Donbass - sons, husbands, and relatives. The Committee operates under the patronage of the Makeevsky branch of the Union of Afghan Veterans. Earlier the Committee worked within the Union of Widows and Mothers of Donbass, now it has separated and works independently in Makeyevka. The chairman is Olga Rafailova, a mother who lost her son in battles in the south.
"When I buried my son, I swore that no one would ever claim to me, that my son was lost in vain," Olga shared with Novorossia correspondents.
At the moment, the Committee includes more than 120 families of the killed volunteers of the Army of the Donetsk People's Republic, of which seventy-five people actively participate in its work. Monthly meetings take place, in which work is carried out to perpetuate the memory of the deceased. Also legal issues (laws, document submission) are discussed.
In 2016 in the Makeevsky village of Khanzhonkovo, the Committee members decided to install memorial plates with the names of the dead soldiers. The activities of the Committee are not limited to helping families, lessons are being given to patriotic education in the city's schools, and assistance to wounded soldiers is also provided.
In general, the Committee manages on its own. We can not fail to mention the help of Elena Mikhailovna Romanenko, the chairman of the Volunteer Fund "Moscow-Donbass," the Novorossia Foundation, as well as the support of all not indifferent inhabitants of Russia and the Donetsk People's Republic.
The Committee contributes to the development of the museum to the deceased militiamen of the Soviet district of Makeyevka, which was organized by the voluntary search detachments of the students in Municipal School No. 80. At the moment, information is being gathered about the deceased defenders of Donbass. Many families have responded, and already have provided portraits and stories of their heroes.
Olga Rafailova, on behalf of the Committee of Soldiers' Mothers, expresses thanks for the financial assistance of servicemen on the front line of Zaitsevo. The funds transferred by them were used to make registered plaques. Now the Committee is engaged in resolving the issue of establishing nameplates on the walls of urban schools.
The families of the dead do not leave the military units in which they served.
"When we communicate with commanders it's hard not to notice the warmth with which they speak about their dead comrades and about their families. They are trying to provide both material and moral support, "says Olga Rafailova, the committee's chairman.
These include: 805 (Fifth) and 7th military units, the Kalmius battalion, the volunteers of the Dnepropetrovsk Army of Spartak and others.
"Spartacus" in memory of the dead warriors makes a march Moscow-Sevastopol. On his way, he enters the church and puts candles to his deceased colleagues, tells their stories, visits families.
