President of Ukraine Poroshenko at the opening of the building of the Ukrainian theater in Severodonetsk said that he would personally raise the issue of a peacekeeping mission in the Donbass at the UN General Assembly in New York, the correspondent of the news agency Novorossia reports.
"The issue of introducing peacekeepers and an armed OSCE mission continues to be relevant. Next month in fact I will raise this issue at the UN General Assembly in New York," Poroshenko said.
"Yes, the aggressor country is a permanent member of the UN Security Council and, unfortunately, owns the right of veto, but this does not mean that we should not strive for such a decision," he added.
The Ukrainian president also has traditionally accused Russia of aggression and unwillingness about peace in the Donbass.
"Never will the Ukrainian government initiate an escalation of the conflict, but in case of an attempted offensive, we will severely rebuff Russia and its puppets," Poroshenko said.
Earlier, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that a peacekeeping mission in the Donbass can be introduced in Ukraine, given the consent of the Lugansk and Donetsk Republics.
We recall, today the "Opposition block" proposed to introduce UN peacekeepers into the Donbass.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Poroshenko held telephone talks with US Secretary of State Rex Tillersen, during which he called for intensifying consideration of deploying an international peacekeeping contingent in the Donbass under the auspices of the United Nations.
