Experts from Rosselkhoznadzor (regulatory body) in Vladivostok intercepted the import of 10 tonnes of nectarines contaminated with pests.

"Laboratory studies showed that 10 tons of nectarines are infected with the Eastern fruit moth - a pest for plants for which there are quarantine obligations in the Russian Federation," the press service of the Rosselkhoznadzor department reported.

The fruit party was returned to China by order of the department.

Rosselkhoznadzor notes that the eastern moth is a threat to various fruit trees, these pests are able to completely destroy the crop.
