Syrian Forces, in cooperation with the allies, made a new progress on Monday after taking control of the village of Al Duwaikhilah, located in the southeastern countryside of Deir Ez Zour province, after opening fire on ISIS terrorists in the area, located northwest of the village itself.
According to the field reports, the Army approached the village from a distance of less than 2 km, and from direction of Al Thawra Military Airport, which is located 40 km southwest of the town of Abu Kamal in the eastern countryside of Deir Ez Zour, thus meaning the army has made significant progress in the area near the Iraqi border.
The new progress comes after the Syrian Army took control of other important areas near the border, namely Ard Al Luwayzia, Ras Al Waar and Wadi Al Waar.
About a month ago, the Syrian Army has entered the southern countryside of Deir Ez Zour province for the first time in five years.
Al Thawra Airport is one of three military airports located in the eastern Syrian province of Deir Ez Zour.
It is located south of Al Hamdan Military Airport, itself located near the strategic town of Abu Kamal.
Deir Ez Zour military airport is otherwise the largest military airport in the province.
