Ukraine is ready to abandon its agreement with Russia on the export of military equipment

The Russian-Ukrainian cooperation agreement between the two countries in the export of military products to third countries may be broken. This initiative comes from the side of Ukraine.

The Cabinet of Ministers of the "unattached" took a number of important decisions. In addition to the termination of the agreement with Russia, the Ukrainians intend to sign an agreement with NATO. The document assumes partnership in the field of joint management of arms transfers.

Recall that the Russian-Ukrainian agreement has been in force since 2004. 13 years ago, the parties decided to cooperate in such areas as

  1. export of military products to third countries,
  2. joint marketing,
  3. patent-licensing studies of world markets for military products, and
  4. the exchange of information on these issues.

We add that the US intends to supply weapons to Kiev. Last week, the White House received a recommendation from the Pentagon that high-tech Javelin anti-tank weapons of Javelin worth about $ 50 million were needed by Ukraine. On August 1, The Wall Street Journal reported that the State Department and the Pentagon had developed a plan for the supply of anti-tank missiles and other weapons to Ukraine to fight "pro-Russian separatists." However, the publication suggested, the White House may take several months to approve the plan.
