The Syrian Army with backing from the Russian air force has now pushed itself to within 3km of of the 137th Brigade Base located on the outskirts of Deir Ezzor city.
This latest drive towards Deir Ezzor has meant that a direct line of vision between government forces in the base and those trying to reach it. It is therefore expected that the siege of Deir Ezzor will officially be lifted by the end of the day.
Al-Masdar News have also emerged that the Syrian Army have also secured an asphalt mine to the northwest of the main city area.
Meanwhile, within the city, ISIS have bombed a building at the University of Al-Jazira in the al-Bajaila area of Deir Ezzor city, according to Al-Mayadeen reporter Khaled Iskef.
