The Kurdistan’s delegation of negotiators has arrived in Iraqi capital city of Baghdad in order to discuss the issue of the forthcoming referendum on independence of the Iraqi Kurdistan region.

The purpose of the visit is to find a compromise as regards the issue.

Recently, the Federal Supreme Court of Iraq has issued an order to immediately cease all Kurdistan referendum activities, asserting that holding the referendum is unconstitutional.

For his part, Massoud Barzani, the president of the autonomous Kurdistan region of Iraq said the alternatives to holding a referendum that were offered so far are not sufficient as they do not guarantee future independence.

During the meeting with the British Defense Minister Michael Fallon in Erbil, Barzani said that the referendum could be postponed only with guarantees on independence.

Fallon also met the Kurdistani Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani, who even ahead the meeting already denied any possibilities to postpone the referendum scheduled for September 25th.

However, Saadi Ahmed Bira, one of the member of the Kurdish delegation that visited Baghdad, said the new round of negotiations between Baghdad and Erbil will be the beginning of the end of the differences between the federal government and the provincial authorities in Kurdistan.

For his part, Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati, chairman of the Iranian Assembly of Experts, said secession of the Kurdistan region from Iraq is an American desire to make Israel stronger, stressing that his country will not allow this.

During assembly’s session, Jannati pointed out that secession of Kurdistan is a desire and a plot of America, Saudi Arabia and Israel to weaken the Muslims.
