The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine recommended schools to hold a lesson on the history of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UIA) on the Day of the Defender of the country, celebrated on October 14. The corresponding recommendation was published on Tuesday at the agency's website.
"It is recommended to hold a special lesson on the occasion of the Day of Defender of Ukraine, and the 75th anniversary of the formation of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army; excursions to historical, local history and other memorial museums, places of memory associated with the Ukrainian liberation movement" - the document says.
In addition, the Ministry of Education and Science offered to hold meetings of pupils with UIA veterans or ATO participants; watching movies, holding discussion platforms and other thematic events on this day.
The Ukrainian Insurgent Army was a Ukrainian nationalist paramilitary and later partisan army that engaged in a series of guerrilla conflicts during World War II - against both Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union, however, at different times, aiding Germany against the USSR.
