Saudi Arabia's Prince Mohammed bin Nayef is under house arrest, Saudi academic Madawi Al Rasheed said on Thursday.

In an interview with the Lebanese channel Al Mayadeen, the London-based Saudi academic pointed to increased tensions that recently erupted on the Saudi streets, and which are likely related to series of arrests of various prominent Saudi figures by the security forces.

In late June 2017, Muhammad bin Nayef was allegedly ousted by the royal family, and since replaced with Muhammad bin Salman.

Al Rasheed predicts that there would be no massive demonstrations on September 15th anywhere in Saudi Arabia, although, as she puts it, this will likely mark the “beginning of a change.”
