United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres said on Tuesday that the Rohingya minority in Myanmar are facing a risk of ethnic cleansing in the western state of Rakhine.
The Secretary General said that the violence is "creating a situation that can destabilize the region."
When quizzed about ethnic cleansing, the UN chief said, "We are facing a risk, I hope we don't get there."
In the latest crackdown, more then 400 people have been killed, prompting nearly 125,000 refugees to flee to Bangladesh, a country that was already hosting about 400,000 Rohingya's.
