The Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said his country will not stop producing any kinds of weapons needed to defend its people and territorial integrity.
“We have built, are building and will continue to build missiles, and this violates no international agreements,” Rouhani said while addressing the Iranian parliament.
He then responded to the statement of the US President Donald Trump who earlier in the month said he would not re-certify Iran’s compliance with the nuclear agreement, saying this statement proves the US is highly unreliable and dishonest as regards respecting the international agreements, assuring that any US provocation against Iran will be dealt accordingly.
“You are disregarding past negotiations and agreements approved by the U.N. Security council and expect others to negotiate with you?” Rouhani said.
“You propose North Koreans to negotiate. Are the North Koreans crazy to negotiate with you?”, he added.
“They wanted to divide Iraq, but its army, its people and the rest of the people from the region stood against their goals of splitting up the country” , Rouhani said, adding that Washington harmed security and stability of Iraq and Afghanistan after deploying its forces to both countries and meddling in their internal affairs.
Few days ago, Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, said that Iran's defense capabilities were non-negotiable, stressing they are giving Iran its power and pride after years of American, English and Zionist domination of the country.
The statements of both Iranian officials come in the context of responding to various US and Israeli threats and provocations.
Earlier, the US President Donald Trump said his country could not confirm Iran's commitment to the nuclear deal, while also describing the agreement with Iran as the worst deal ever signed by US, threatening that if no solution was found, Washington would have to abandon the nuclear deal with Iran and impose tougher sanctions against its Revolutionary Guards Corps.
In addition, Israel's Intelligence Minister Yisrael Katz threatened Iran with military intervention, should the international community's efforts fail to prevent Tehran from obtaining nuclear weapons.
The European Union, however, has expressed support for the nuclear deal and urged members of the US Congress not to return to the sanctions policy.
