Following the death of prominent and well-loved Brigadier General Issam Zahredinne some days ago, his replacement has been announced.
Ghassan Iskander Tarraf "al-Qasim" has been announced as the new commander of the Republic Guards in Syria's eastern Deir Ezzor province.
Al-Qasim was often seen on the front lines fighting besides General Zahredinne and also commands the love and respect of his soldiers.
Zahredinne died some days ago when his convoy hit a landmine planted by ISIS on Saqr Island.
