The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) in northern Iraq is facing a widespread general teachers strike.
This is being triggered as a one month deadline to pay salaries that have been expected since 2014 passes.
Al-Sura News has reported that over 5,000 teachers are currently protesting with that number expected to increase as the day goes on.
The KRG, headed by long-time autocratic Masoud Barzani has siphoned billions of dollars in oil revenue for his family and cronies.
It remains to be seen if Federal Iraqi authorities will intervene.
