Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that terrorism problem in Syria is coming to an end.
During a press conference, held in scope of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Vietnam on Saturday, Putin called for an expansion of de-escalation zones within Syrian territory amid preparations for the start of the political process in the country.
The Russian President pointed out crucial importance of joint evaluations of situation in Syria in his statement with the US President DOnald Trump, stressing that the agreement between both sides on ending terrorism problem in Syria is an important step and confirms the true principles of war on terrorism.
Putin said he had a constructive dialogue with Trump during the summit in Vietnam, describing him as civilized, educated and mature when dealing with the issues that were discussed.
He, however, said that the proposed sideline talks with Trump were not held due to scheduling conflicts on both sides.
“There is the need for improving the US-Russian relations at diplomatic and political level to properly discuss certain issues, namely the international security and economic cooperation”, Putin said, pointing out that the relations are still in a state of crisis.
