HARARE, Zimbabwe - The political situation in Zimbabwe continues to destabilize. Armored personnel carriers have now been seen rolling through the Zimbabwean capital of Harare. According to reports on the ground, these are 'military drills' which have the flavor of muscle flexing. To understand the background, and as we reported yesterday,
"Zimbabwe's army chief on Monday demanded that purges which are currently going on in the ranks of Mugabe’s ruling Zanu-PF party, be put to an end.
The purges began following the sacking of Zimbabwean vice president Emmerson Mnangangwa (until recently a close aide of Mugabe).
The army chief issued a warning, saying that military could intervene in order to assure the political stability of the country."
All this comes a day after issuing a stern warning to President Robert Mugabe and the ruling Zanu-PF. Today's training routine has sparked panic in the country’s capital.
Another video of military tanks on the move in Zimbabwe. In this one, someone says “the army are backing Mnangagwa” in Shona at the end of the video. http://pic.twitter.com/kpeY6TOdey— Doug Coltart ✊π½πΏπΌ (@DougColtart) November 14, 2017
Apparently this is along Harare -Chinhoyi road. Show of force? Military drill? Or something is up? http://pic.twitter.com/k8iDtSKDZv— Maynard Manyowa (@iAmKudaMaynard) November 14, 2017
