Turkish Foreign Ministry said it had summoned the US Ambassador to the country in order to express its protest, related to the alleged "mistreatment" of Turkish security officials, during Erdogan’s visit to Washington DC last week.

In a statement, issued on Monday, Turkish Foreign Ministry accused the US side of "aggressive and unprofessional acts", carried out by members of the US security personnel.
According to the statement, Turkish Foreign Ministry made a formal request to the US authorities to conduct a prompt and thorough investigation into the alleged "diplomatic incident" and provide necessary explanations.
The ministry also said "security holes" were detected during Erdogan's visit to Washington, allegedly resulting from "inability of US authorities to take adequate precautions at all stages of the program of the visit."
Last week, Turkish President Erdogan visited Washington where he met with the US President Donald Trump. Not long after, a brawl between protesters and members of the Erdogan regime's security apparatus broke out outside the building of the Turkish embassy in Washington.
The Turkish side immediately blamed the outlawed Kurdish PKK separatist group of being behind incident. In turn, Washington police chief described the actions of the Turkish security personnel as a "brutal attack on peaceful demonstrators".
State Department also issued a statement, saying actions of the Turkish security personnel represent a "matter of deep concern."
Washington Police said 11 people were wounded, including one of their officers. Two people were arrested, one of them being a demonstrator.
Already last week, Washington expressed "grave concern" about the Turkish behaviour.
The US Senator John McCain even went as far as to demand the expulsion of the Turkish ambassador.
