North Korea Central News Agency reported that a new medium range surface-to-earth strategic ballistic missile, dubbed as “Pukguksong-2”, was launched on Sunday and has since been approved for military use by Kim Jong-un, North Korea’s supreme leader.
According to the agency, Kim Jong-un, was very pleased with the launch, adding that he was impressed by the missile’s highly accurate hit and target ratio. He reportedly called Pukguksong-2 an “effective strategic weapon.”
Meanwhile, Russia is urging the US and other countries, traditionally opposed to North Korea, not to respond to the latest activity of North Korea.
On Monday, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said the launch does not contribute to ending the nuclear crisis on Korean Peninsula and called on North Korea’s opponents to remain calm.

“Of course we believe that such activities are not in the interest of maintaining peace and stability on Korean peninsula”, Ryabkov was heard saying.
“As I say that .. I can only hope that our colleagues in Washington and in the capitals of the Northeast Asian countries will refrain from taking any actions in response.”, he further added.
